Bipasha Basu out of Raavan... Reveals Why!

Bipasha Basu ki jawani
Bipasha Basu, who now looks forward to multi-starrer comedy "All The Best", has dismissed rumours that her role in Mani Ratnam's "Raavan" was cancelled because her character posed a threat to the other actresses - Aishwarya Rai and Priyamani. She insists it was an amicable decision between her and the director.

Rumour mills were abuzz that Bipasha's role of Mandodari opposite Abhishek Bachchan in the film was suspended because her part was overpowering as compared to the other female stars.

"They were all rumours and only rumours. I am not a part of 'Raavan'. I was initially a part of 'Raavan' but Mani sir thought he couldn't do justice to my role... as to whatever he had promised me would definitely be in conflict with the actual story of the film once it is shot, " Bipasha told in an interview.

"So he took a call instead of being in an embarrassing position later on. He decided to tell me that and amicably we decided that it should not be done...hopefully we'll work together soon. So now there's going to be no Mandodari in the film, " she added.

The film also stars Nikhil Dwivedi and Tamil actor Vikram.

Bipasha was in the capital to promote her forthcoming release "All The Best - Fun Begins" that is releasing Friday.

Distributed by Yash Raj Films, the laughathon has been directed by Rohit Shetty. Apart from Bipasha, it also stars Fardeen Khan, Mugdha Godse, Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgn, who has produced the comedy.

" 'All The Best' is a situational comedy and a total entertainer. It deals with a lot of mistaken identities, people lying and getting into trouble, " Bipasha said.

"My character is called Jahnvi who is married to Ajay in the film. She is a straightforward girl who is trying to run her life and family by looking after a totally rundown gym. She cons people to join the gym by lying because by the looks of it, nobody wants to join it, " she added.

Apparently this is the 30-year-old's sixth movie with Ajay after "Zameen", "Apaharan", Bipasha Basu boomb shel boobs"Shikhar" and "Omkara".

"We also did a film together with Sanjay Dutt that was completed 50 percent, "Mr.Fraud" (shelved), " she said
Asked how her co-star was as a producer, she said: "He is a very good producer. He in fact gifted me a Blackberry apart from giving me the money for the film. What's important is that at the end of the day he is a very good friend and a very good co-star.

"I've known Ajay for quite some time now. He is very entertaining and makes you laugh and he's a fabulous actor."

Bipasha says she agreed to do "All The Best" after she realised it had the same essence as "No Entry".

"I have done comedies before like 'No Entry' and 'Phir Hera Pheri'... And I really got the same flavour as 'No Entry' when 'All The Best' was narrated to me.

"I laughed throughout the narration and I thought if a film could entertain me so much on a narrative level, I need to be a part of it because I wanted to see it made, as it's hilarious, " she said.

Apart from "All The Best", Bipasha's future projects include "Lamha", "Pankh" and Priyadarshan's next.

Why Katrina loves Ranbir

Katrina Kaif’s New York revived the box office. She will be seen in full-fledged roles in two films this year, Ajab Prem Ki Ghajab Kahani and De Dana Dan and a special appearance in Blue. The gorgeous actress tells us about her latest film, director Rajkumar Santoshi and working with Ranbir Kapoor who is the next big thing.
Katrina loves RanbirIt’s been a great honour to work with Rajji. I have done most of my films with Akshay and Salman. I asked them who is the best director for an actor to work with and both of them answered that it was Rajkumar Santoshi. I had an amazing time working with him. I had a great time shooting the songs in Turkey and am grateful to Ahmed Khan for the fantastic choreography and Pritam for the wonderful music, as always,’ smiled Katrina.

Katrina has usually played the glam doll in most of her films except New York and, in APKGK her character seems to be more than just a pretty face. How does she feel about that? ‘I think I am very privileged that I keep getting fresh new chances with every film to better myself as an actress. In my opinion, Rajji has s reputation of not being just a fantastic director but also a fantastic director for actors and their performances. He has taught me a lot about improvisation. He has given my character and persona a new angle. It’s not anything like you have seen in New York or Singh is Kinng. It’s a completely different interpretation of Jenny, my character. Ranbir and I followed his guidance. We were always on the sets because being around Rajji, because you get to understand how he envisions the scene. Before every shot, he would enact my part and then enact my part. And we both would just stare at him in amazement. Then the two of us would have a competition as to who can copy him best. We just needed to follow his direction,’ she replied.

She and Ranbir are being touted as the best-looking on-screen pair of the year. About working with Ranbir Kapoor, she said, ‘He is a very talented actor and a very sweet guy. He is always lively and he fills the set with energy and enthusiasm. He makes sure everyone is having a good time. He is a positive force to be around. He is fantastic actor and dancer.’

Katrina Kaif: Bollywood queen

Every era of Hindi Cinema had its share of talented actresses fighting it out for the top slot, but there had been few actresses, rather heroins, who ruled the arena solely due to their beauty. Katrina Kaif is surely one of them

WHO IS your choice for most fascinating beauty in India? For me, without any hesitation, it's Katrina Kaif! She is a perfect blend of Indian and Western beauties. With her incredible beauty with equally voluptuous body, she is simply far ahead of her contemporaries. In fact, she is entirely in a different zone, clearly out of the cat race with no competition at all.Every era of Hindi Cinema had its share of talented actresses fighting it out for the top slot, but there had been few actresses, rather heroins, who ruled the arena solely due to their beauty. They over-owed their generations merely for their beauty. Madhubala and Hema Malini can be named in the same bracket, who were the queen of silver screen, not for their acting skills, but more for their impeccable beauty. Their looks hypnotised the audiences to the extent that there was no time or relevance for analysing their acting, for whatever they did on screen was loved by the audiences. So there should not be any raised eyebrows for Katrina’s western accent or her acting skills. Her accent has found the same acceptance among masses as was the case with Hema Malini whose lacking accent proved to be her USP in the long run. The success of Katrina’s films has proved that she sells at box office.
In fact, she blasts at box office and there is no dearth of people who just go to the multiplexes for watching her.

No one can deny her contribution in reviving the fading career of Akshay Kumar. The success of Race and now the New York speaks about her growing popularity. Popularity-wise she can even be put ahead of the actors, forget about actresses. She has certainly reached the level, where she can propel the film entirely on her shoulders.
I may be harsh on the other damsels of silver screen but they have to bear the truth. No other contemporary actress seems to be near to her. They can thrive to get better films, better roles, etc, to fight it out with each other but should forget competing with Katrina! She is beyond competition now simply because of her mesmerising beauty, which can’t be acquired, it’s simply a gift from the God. Moreover, in Bollywood its always the looks which rules, acting is just a secondary requirement to it. Lastly, I must thank Salman Khan for introducing Katrina to Bollywood. He has indeed gifted the Indian Cinema with one of its most precious gems.

Akshay Kumar Kareena Kapoor Sajid Nadiadwala in Style

Sajid Nadiadwala and the team of Kambakkht Ishq will party at a suburban five-star hotel night club tonight. Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor and Sajid will raise a toast to their film, and it's super duper opening at the box-office. Also, it is Sajid's wife Wardha's birthday today, so it's a double celebration.
Akshay, who is a close friend of Sajid, is helping organise the bash, as the producer is feeling under the weather. Almost the entire industry is being invited along with Sajid's best friend Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, to all of Akshay's heroines including Deepika Padukone with her beau Ranbir Kapoor, Lara Dutta and Karisma Kapoor."Akshay affirms, "It's a party to celebrate the success of Kambakkht Ishq. Kareena, Sajid and I are hosting it together. But it's not just a celebration for the film but also for our film industry which suffered losses worth Rs 250 crore because of the multiplex strike. It's good that films like New York and Kambakkht Ishq are doing well. It's great news for our industry."Sajid is not deterred by the poor reviews.

"I am thrilled with the great opening. Out of the seven films I've produced, all except Jaan-E-Mann, went on to become blockbusters in spite of getting poor reviews.Jaan-E-Mann, which got four stars, didn't do well. Kambakkht Ishq has grossed Rs 30 crore in the first three days! Akshay has been organising the party as I haven't been keeping too well."Is Sajid's best friend Salman Khan coming? Sajid says, "I have invited Salman and I hope he joins me in our celebration. It would mean a lot to me." Kareena Kapoor says, "I am excited about the collections of Kambakkht Ishq.

I have heard that it is doing much better than New York. I am happy to host a party with Akki and Sajid. I will invite my colleagues personally. After the release of Love Aaj Kal, if it's a hit, Saif and I might throw a party."

The pose, which is featured at the cover, was taken while the actress was shooting for Kambakkht Ishq.

In the mean time, Kareena has got a place in the list of Filmfare
Magazine’s “most powerful women” list.

When asked about it, the actress says, I am a courageous girl, I’ve been brave to take decisions. I’m honest — I don’t hide anything, not my relationship, nor the fact that I want to do path-breaking roles like in Omkara, Chameli and Jab We Met.”

The actress says, “I want to be known for my body of work. Nothing else matters.”

“I’ve put in ten years of blood and sweat, 18 hours of work a day, just to get here. Lots of films I wanted to do, I was not a part of because nobody approached me,” Kareena Kapoor added.
